According to statements made by company officials, a significant portion of the investment will be allocated to projects focused on low-emission steel production technologies. Within this scope, 5 thousand crore rupees investment is planned for the HIsarna and Easy Melting Technology (EMT) projects.
In line with its capacity expansion and transition strategy towards low-carbon steel production technologies, Tata Steel aims to increase its annual crude steel production capacity in India from the current 27.35 million tonnes (MTPA) to 40 million tonnes.
A company official stated, “Tata Steel is committed to investing a total of 10 thousand crore rupees in its projects in Jharkhand by 2028. Of this investment, 5 thousand crore rupees will be allocated to the HIsarna and Easy Melting Technology projects. The total investment will create approximately 2 thousand direct and indirect employment opportunities.”
The planned investment is expected to be one of the key steps in Tata Steel’s strategy to increase production capacity and accelerate its transition towards low-carbon steel production.
