Türkiye’s shipbuilding sector begins its strategic expansion into Africa, starting with Nigeria

The Turkish Shipbuilders Association, under the Shipbuilding Industries Cluster Project carried out with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, is launching an international cooperation initiative.

Türkiye’s shipbuilding sector begins its strategic expansion into Africa, starting with Nigeria

The project, which aims to increase the global market share of Turkish shipyards and maritime equipment suppliers, will identify Nigeria as its first strategic destination.

According to a statement released by The Turkish Shipbuilders Association, the Türkiye–Nigeria Shipbuilding and Maritime Digital Exhibition and Forum 2026 will be organized in cooperation with the Türkiye–Nigeria Business Council (NTBC) within the framework of the project supported by the Ministry of Industry and Technology. The event aims to elevate commercial and industrial relations between the two countries to a new level while representing the first step in The Turkish Shipbuilders Association’s vision for a multinational digital expansion strategy.

The first phase of the event, which will be conducted online, will continue until 5 August. The program will be hosted through the DAMISE Digital Platform, a global digital ecosystem infrastructure designed for industrial and high-technology sectors.

In the initial phase of the project, the Ministry of Industry and Technology aims to connect Turkish shipyards’ advanced engineering capabilities, expertise in specialized vessel construction, environmentally friendly tugboat solutions, and defense industry capabilities with Nigerian shipowners, port authorities, and public sector representatives.

The webinars organized as part of the event will address current industry developments, market trends, and business opportunities. Company profiles and product presentations of the cluster member firms participating in the project will be made available to visitors through digital exhibition halls and launch areas on the DAMISE platform.

Through the platform’s business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking infrastructure, Turkish shipyards and maritime equipment manufacturers will have the opportunity to conduct pre-scheduled one-on-one business meetings with Nigerian decision-makers.

Within this framework, industry representatives seeking direct access to the Nigerian and wider African markets will be able to establish virtual booths, schedule B2B meetings with Nigerian shipowners, and develop new commercial partnerships and cooperation opportunities.
