Iraq introduces electronic verification for customs procedures

Under the new system, customs declarations submitted with documents that have not been electronically verified may be automatically suspended. In addition, paper-based commercial invoices will no longer be accepted at Iraq's border crossings.

Iraq moves to digitize customs procedures

The measure has been introduced as part of the Iraqi government's efforts to modernize the country's customs system. The initiative aims to enhance transparency in customs procedures, strengthen regulatory compliance, and standardize customs practices between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

Through the electronic verification system, document checks will be conducted digitally, while border crossing operations are expected to be managed more efficiently.
