Taiwan's 300 series stainless steel HRC imports and exports experienced a decline in July, despite a rise in both import and export prices. The import price has increased for five consecutive months, reaching around NTD 62,000 per ton (approximately USD 1,950), the highest level in eight months, driven by the price hikes from Indonesia Tsingshan. This trend indicates that the import costs for upstream steel mills are indeed on the rise.
In July, Taiwan's 300 series stainless steel HRC imports decreased by 18.9% from the previous month, totaling around 58,300 tons. Meanwhile, exports decreased by 62.5% m-o-m to just 57 tons, the lowest level since November last year.
In terms of pricing, the average import price in July increased by nearly NTD 600 (approximately USD 19) compared to June, setting a new high since December 2023. The export price also surged by nearly NTD 27,000 (approximately USD 850) m-o-m in July, reaching its highest level since last November.
