According to a statement from Megamet, the company’s COO, Herman Edin, visited GEMKOM Makina Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. and met with Ferhat Caner Alakoç, Mechanical Group Manager at GEMKOM’s Projects and Contracts Department.
The statement noted that Alakoç is responsible for GEMKOM’s work at Stegra’s DRI facility in Boden, Sweden.
GEMKOM and Megamet evaluate potential projects
Megamet described GEMKOM as an international Turkish engineering and manufacturing company with many years of experience in the steel industry. The company said GEMKOM is active in the engineering and manufacturing of equipment for steel plants and rolling mills, as well as modernization, technical components and complete turnkey solutions.
During the meeting, various potential future cooperation projects were discussed, with a focus on areas where the capabilities of the two companies could complement each other.
Megamet highlighted GEMKOM’s international engineering and manufacturing capabilities, alongside Megamet’s local presence, expertise in refractories and execution capacity.
The company said the discussions focused on how the two sides could jointly develop solutions for ongoing and future industrial projects.
Megamet invests in new facility in Luleå
Megamet said its investment in Luleå is part of its strategy to be closer to industry in northern Sweden, strengthen its local capacity and develop new partnerships for industrial projects.
The company’s new setup in Luleå includes offices, a workshop, warehouse and prefabrication operations. Megamet said the new facility is intended to create better conditions for faster decision-making, more efficient logistics and stronger local delivery capabilities by positioning the company closer to customers, projects and business partners.
Megamet said it plans to continue discussions with GEMKOM and maintain the dialogue aimed at turning the opportunities under consideration into concrete partnerships.
