Steel sales in Germany decreased by 5% in 2023

According to BDS data, Germany, one of the world's top ten steel producers, experienced a 5% decrease in steel sales in 2023.

Steel sales in Germany, one of the world's ten largest steel producers, decreased by 5% in 2023 compared to 2022, with sales falling to 786 thousand tons per month, according to data from the Federation of German Steel Shareholders BDS.

While 826 thousand tons of steel were sold monthly in 2022, a current decrease was recorded in March 2024, according to BDS data. In March 2023, it was realized with 994 thousand tons, while on a yearly basis, it was noted that the total volume of steel products in Germany in 2023 decreased by 5% compared to 2022 to 9.43 million tons.

Most of the sales were flat products with a production of 60%, long products with 30% and other steel products with the remaining 10%.

According to SteelRadar sources, while there is a certain decline in steel production and sales in Europe, it is stated that Germany's steel sales decreased by 5%.
