Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek shared his assessment on his social media account following the release of the August inflation figures.
Şimşek highlighted that the decline in inflation continued despite seasonal increases in education prices and the impact of the war on fuel prices. Minister Şimşek stated that annual inflation stood at 31.5% in August.
Notable decline in core goods inflation
According to the data shared by Minister Şimşek, annual core goods inflation declined to 15.9%. This was reported to be the lowest level recorded since November 2020.
Şimşek also noted a decline in annual rent inflation, stating that the indicator reached its lowest level in the past 46 months.
Focus on structural policies
Şimşek emphasized that various measures are being taken to limit the impact of global price shocks on inflation in Türkiye, highlighting that achieving lasting price stability remains among the key objectives.
He stated that, alongside short-term measures, structural policies would continue to be implemented to support this goal.
