According to the data, Mexican producer prices decreased by 17.3% compared to the previous year in March 2023, marking the sixth consecutive annual decrease with an average monthly decrease of 20.4%.
In March, the producer price index increased by 3.8% excluding petroleum and services, and by 1.8% for petroleum and services.
The steel sector experienced the biggest price drop with a 24.1% decrease in steel plate prices, followed by a 6.7% decrease in steel billet prices and a 1.1% decrease in construction steel prices.
Zinc-coated sheet prices also decreased by 28.2% compared to March 2022. These price decreases represent the sixth consecutive annual decrease for each product category, with average monthly decreases ranging from 2.7% to 24.9%
