Malaysia drops to 11th in wire rod exports to Turkey

Malaysia ranked 11th in wire rod exports to Turkey in the January-July 2024.

Malaysia drops to 11th in wire rod exports to Turkey

According to the information compiled by SteelRadar from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) data, Malaysia's wire rod exports to Turkey showed a remarkable performance by reaching 96,702 tons in the March-October 2023 period. Malaysia's leading position in exports, especially in April, June, and September, shows that Malaysia is responding to the increase in Turkey's demand for wire rods, while the 53,094 tons exported in September reveals the country's record in this field.

In January-July 2024, Malaysia dropped to 11th place in exports, with export volumes down 93.63% y-o-y to 6.160 tons. The fact that Malaysia exported only in March and April and dropped to 5th place in this period reveals that competition in the Turkish market has increased and other countries have gained a stronger position.

Market experts emphasize that whether Malaysia will increase its exports to Turkey will depend on global trade dynamics and changes in demand for wire rods.
