During a meeting with the heads of 50 industrial regions on Tuesday, French President Emmanuel Macron urged the country's most climate-damaging sectors to step up efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions over the next decade.
Cement, steel, aluminum and other metal and chemical manufacturers called these plants at the meeting to halve their emissions within ten years.
Macron shared the news that the financial aid will double in return for the efforts to realize this demand.
The day before the meeting, Macron also called on the world's nations to take action on the climate issue at the COP27 meeting held in Egypt.
The industry, which accounts for 20% of France's gas emissions, is important in achieving the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions set by the European Union.
In addition to the difficult transition to green technology, the negative impact of the energy crisis on the industries after Russia's invasion of Ukraine makes the situation even more difficult.
Macron shared the news earlier this year that six new nuclear reactors will be built to achieve this goal.
