Among them, the exports to South Korea accounted for the largest proportion, totaling around 3.1 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.4%. Vietnam ranked second with roughly 2.2 million tons, a year-on-year drop of 34%; followed by Taiwan’s 594,800 tons, down by 46.5% year on year.
In December alone, Japan’s ferrous scrap exports had a year-on-year decrease of 33.7% to approximately 495,200 tons.

According to Japan Customs, Japan exported around 7.3 million tons of ferrous scrap in 2021, dropping by 22% compared to the previous year.
