According to data compiled by SteelRadar from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Türkiye's scrap imports increased by 32.05% year on year to 1,585,693 mt in June. Imports had totaled 1,200,823 mt in the same month last year. Compared to May, June imports also rose by 6.8%.
In the January–June period, Türkiye's total scrap imports reached 9,645,748 mt, marking a 3.32% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. Total imports had stood at 9,335,783 mt in the first six months of 2025.
On a country basis, Belgium was Türkiye's largest scrap supplier in June, with imports totaling 197,991 mt.
Belgium was followed by the United Kingdom with 175,418 mt, the Russian Federation with 170,229 mt, the Netherlands with 132,960 mt, and Romania with 119,241 mt.
In June, Türkiye also imported 114,659 mt of scrap from the US, 83,656 mt from Lithuania, 78,618 mt from Denmark, 77,928 mt from Germany, and 71,077 mt from Venezuela.
