According to the Italian steelmakers association Federacciai, Italy imported 7.5 million tons of steel from non-EU countries, from January to July 2022, with an increase of 16.3%, and exported 1.8 million tons of steel to non-EU countries, with a decrease of 9.8%.
During the same period, imports of long products from non-EU countries increased by 34.7% y-o-y. Rebar imports rose by 100% to 8,000 tons, while bar imports rose by 70.3% to 172,000 tons, and wire rod imports hiked by 23.9% to 228,000 tons, all y-o-y.
Italy imported 95,000 tons of welded pipes and 76,000 tons of seamless pipes, up by 1.1% and 13.4% y-o-y, respectively from January to July.
