The two countries made progress in the comprehensive free trade agreement process with talks ending on Saturday.
In a statement from the Indian Ministry of Commerce, it was stated, “The 11th round of negotiations for the India-Australia Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) was held in New Delhi from August 18 to 23, 2025, and the two countries moved closer to their common goal of strengthening bilateral trade and economic partnership.”
The two countries had initiated the cooperation process with a provisional trade agreement that came into effect in December 2022. With the new talks, the aim is to expand the scope of this agreement and transform it into a comprehensive free trade agreement.
Experts predict that the completion of the CECA will increase trade volume between India and Australia, facilitate investment flows, and strengthen strategic cooperation.
