Prepared under the company’s “Sustainability at Every Step” approach, the report covers the activities carried out and results achieved in 2025 across resource efficiency, energy management, digitalization, employee development, and occupational health and safety.
The report also provides information on the company’s sustainability approach in response to global regulations such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and changing market conditions.
92.5% of water use came from recycled water
Yıldız Demir Çelik used a total of 444,211 cubic meters of water in 2025. Of this amount, 410,773 cubic meters came from recycled water. As a result, recycled water accounted for 92.5% of the company’s total water consumption.
Alongside efforts to use water resources efficiently, the company continued its energy efficiency initiatives. Operational improvements carried out in 2025 resulted in approximately 5,299 MWh of energy savings.
The eight energy efficiency projects completed during the same period generated a calculated annual energy saving of 587.1 tonnes of oil equivalent (toe).
Improvements to combustion settings in steam boilers, waste heat recovery, condensate recovery and LED lighting conversions were among the energy efficiency measures implemented during the year.
Digital infrastructure enhanced
The company also enhanced its digital infrastructure for customer processes. Developments to the Stargate customer portal aimed to make the flow of information from order to shipment more visible and traceable.
According to the report, the company reached 493 active customers and 704 employees in 2025 and carried out initiatives to manage production, quality, planning and delivery processes through a common data flow.
46.7 hours of training per employee
Yıldız Demir Çelik continued its initiatives in employee development and occupational health and safety.
In 2025, the total training time reached 35,819 hours, while the average training time per employee was 46.7 hours. Alongside training aimed at improving technical skills, process knowledge and problem-solving capabilities, open communication platforms such as “Budur Buluşmaları” were also maintained.
The company also recorded improvements in accident frequency and accident severity rates during the same period.
2030 roadmap takes shape
Following a double materiality assessment conducted in 2025, Yıldız Demir Çelik shaped its 2030 roadmap under the headings “Future at Every Step,” “Responsible Production at Every Step” and “People First at Every Step.”
Yıldız Demir Çelik General Manager Selçuk Yılmaz stated that sustainability is not only an environmental requirement but also a strategic responsibility at the center of all decisions, from production to delivery.
Yılmaz said that in response to changing customer demands, cost pressures and carbon regulations, all processes, from quality and resource use to production and delivery, are being addressed under the same operational discipline.
Yılmaz noted that 92.5% of the water used in 2025 came from recycled water, adding that operational improvements focused on energy savings and efficiency continued throughout the year.
The company plans to continue developing its digital infrastructure, Stargate customer portal and employee experience in the coming period.
