The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) announced that U.S. steel mills shipped 8,219,540 net tons of steel in July 2026. This figure was up 5.4% from the 7,797,929 net tons shipped in July 2025, but down 3.7% from the 8,536,500 net tons recorded in June 2026.
According to AISI data, total steel shipments reached 55,746,641 net tons in the January-July period of 2026. Shipments during the first seven months of the year increased by 5.3% y-o-y, compared with 52,937,508 net tons in the same period of 2025.
By product group, corrosion-resistant sheet and strip shipments increased by 13% y-o-y in the first seven months of 2026, while hot-rolled sheet and strip shipments rose by 8%. Cold-rolled sheet and strip shipments edged up 0.1% y-o-y.
