Although spot prices remained broadly stable at USD 635/t for HRC, USD 720/t for CRC, and USD 800/t for galvanized coil, this stability was assessed as a result of buyers’ wait-and-see approach rather than a genuine recovery in demand, alongside producers’ efforts to maintain price discipline. Lower regional offers were also reported.
Hot rolled coil demand weakens against market conditions
Producer offers were maintained throughout the week at USD 620/t EXW in the İskenderun region, USD 625/t in the Aegean region, USD 630/t in the Black Sea region, and USD 635/t in the Marmara region. For August deliveries, additional discounts of USD 5–10/t were still being discussed. The spot price, which started the week at USD 640/t, declined to the USD 635/t level, once again highlighting the impact of weak demand on pricing formation.
CRC list prices remain firm but lose ground in actual sales
In cold rolled coil, producer list prices were formed in the USD 705–720/t EXW range. While offers were made within this range, it was reported that bids as low as USD 700/t were discussed for large-volume purchases, although these levels could not be confirmed. Despite stable list prices, the gap between official offers and realized transaction prices widened.
Galvanized coil (GI)
For galvanized products, producers offered prices in the USD 790–820/t range to customers. However, similar conditions seen in hot and cold rolled products also persisted in galvanized coil. Reduced interest in imported products did not significantly support sales. Cash flow constraints kept buyers cautious about stockpiling, and transactions remained limited to necessity-based orders.
Although offers at USD 780/t were heard in the market, no confirmed deals at these levels were reported. This indicates that despite stable official prices, actual market prices continued to face downward pressure.
Protection measures support PPGI price resilience
PPGI remained the most resilient segment of the week. Producers maintained list prices at USD 925–950/t EXW, while it was reported that no offers below USD 930/t were accepted for small-volume orders. Despite limited transaction volumes, anti-dumping measures reduced import pressure, allowing producers in this product group to maintain stronger price discipline compared to other flat steel products.
Producers continue efforts to maintain list prices
Throughout the week, producers attempted to maintain list prices, while real market pricing was increasingly shaped by discounts. Low order volumes, lack of expected recovery in end-user demand, and cautious short-term price expectations among buyers continued to exert downward pressure, particularly in the HRC and CRC segments. In contrast, PPGI prices remained supported in the USD 925–950/t range due to anti-dumping protection, while galvanized coil saw increasing activity in the USD 780–800/t range in actual transactions despite stable official list prices.
