Vietnam Green Steel Summit 2026 to focus on the steel industry's low carbon transition

The Vietnam Green Steel Summit 2026, which aims to accelerate the Vietnamese steel industry's transition toward low carbon production, will take place on 23–24 November 2026. The event will be held in a hybrid format, with in person sessions in Ho Chi Minh City and online participation, focusing on the industry's green transformation, emerging technologies and the impact of global regulations.

Vietnam Green Steel Summit 2026 to focus on the steel industry's low carbon transition

Driven by rapid industrialization, expanding infrastructure investment and the global shift toward low carbon production, Vietnam's steel industry is undergoing a significant transformation. Steel producers are increasing investments in electric arc furnace (EAF) production, energy efficiency, scrap recycling and advanced manufacturing technologies. While strengthening their global competitiveness, companies are also working to comply with environmental, social and ESG standards, as well as evolving carbon regulations.

At the same time, the industry's dependence on imported raw materials, changes in global trade policies and, in particular, the requirements of the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) continue to create major challenges for Vietnamese producers. For exporters serving the European market, reducing carbon emissions isn't only an environmental objective but also a key factor in maintaining competitiveness and market access. As a result, expanding value added flat steel production, increasing EAF capacity and promoting circular production models have become strategic priorities for the sector.

During the two day summit, participants will discuss the outlook for Vietnam's steel market in the context of global developments, the transition toward a Green Steel strategy, innovation, automation and global standards in smart steelmaking, next generation metallurgy technologies, regional raw material strategies and a panel session titled "2030 Outlook." The program will also examine the latest developments in green steel and explore new opportunities for industry collaboration.

The event is expected to bring together senior representatives from consulting firms, steel producers, industry associations, raw material suppliers, technology providers and companies operating in the automotive, construction, energy and machinery manufacturing sectors, alongside academics and logistics professionals. The summit aims to strengthen cooperation among industry stakeholders and identify new investment opportunities to support the transition toward green steel.
