U.S. weekly crude steel production shows slight increase

U.S. crude steel production slightly increased in the week ending July 13, 2024, marking a 2.7% increase from the same week last year and a 2.4% rise from the previous week.

U.S. weekly crude steel production shows slight increase

Total crude steel production in the U.S. for the week of July 13th reached 1,735,000 net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 78.1%. This represents a notable increase compared to the same week last year, which recorded production of 1,689,000 net tons and a capacity utilization rate of 74.3%.

The production also experienced an increase from the previous week ending July 6, during which 1,695,000 net tons were produced with a utilization rate of 76.3%. This week-to-week augmentation amounted to a 2.4% increase in production.

Year-to-date figures indicate a mixed trend. As of July 13, the year-to-date production stood at 47,304,000 net tons at a capability utilization rate of 76.5%. This is a decrease of 2.5% from the same period in the previous year, which recorded a production of 48,502,000 net tons at a utilization rate of 77.3%.
