Türkiye's ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector grew by 5.4% in March, while the steel sector grew by 5.6%. According to data from the Mediterranean Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals/Steel Exporters Association (ADMIB), exports of non-ferrous metals increased by 2% and steel exports by 9%.
In his evaluation of the export performance in March, ADMIB President Fuat Tosyalı stated that a successful graphic was drawn in European and African markets in general, and emphasized that a remarkable momentum was achieved in the US market. Tosyalı stated, "Our exports to the US, which was 2.8 million dollars in March last year, approached 11.5 million dollars in the same period this year. We want to show a stable performance in this market. As ADMIB, we will continue to increase our market diversity."
Looking at Türkiye's export figures for March, the ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector exported 1.1 billion dollars and the steel sector exported 1.5 billion dollars. Looking at ADMIB's exports in the same period, 68 million dollars in non-ferrous metals and 194 million dollars in steel exports were made.
According to the first quarter figures of the year, ferrous and non-ferrous metals exports in Türkiye increased by 5.6% to 3.2 billion dollars, while steel exports increased by 2% to 4 billion dollars. In the same period, non-ferrous metals exports increased by 3.2% to 195 million dollars and steel exports increased by 22% to 533 million dollars.
309% increase in exports to the US
Romania was the country with the highest iron-steel exports to Türkiye in March. This country was followed by Italy, Germany, the US and Bulgaria. Export increases of 47% to Italy, 29% to Greece, 19% to Bulgaria and 14% to Romania drew attention.
Romania was again at the top of ADMIB's exports in March. It was followed by Italy, Iraq, Egypt and Morocco respectively. Among the top 10 markets, an increase of 442% to Lebanon, 309% to the US and 117% to Italy was recorded.
