Türkiye’s flat steel imports decreased by 12.2% in the January-May period

Türkiye’s flat steel imports in May 2024 decreased by 27.7% on an annual basis, while it increased by 7.14% monthly.

According to information compiled by SteelRadar from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Türkiye’s flat steel imports decreased by 27.7% in May 2024 compared to the same month of the previous year, dropping from 1,144,799 tons to 827,155 tons. On a monthly basis, it increased by 7.14%.

Total flat steel imports for the January-May 2024 period decreased by 12.2% compared to the same period of the previous year, from 4,194,970 tons to 3,684,256 tons.

The country from which Türkiye imported the most flat steel in May was China with 255,225 tons, followed by South Korea with 149,266 tons, Egypt with 109,163 tons, Russia with 75,228 tons, and France with 49,078 tons.
