Türkiye's automotive exports reached $3.29 billion in March

Türkiye's automotive industry recorded $3 billion 293 million in exports in March. According to data from the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OİB), the automotive industry, Türkiye’s leading export sector, saw its March exports decline by 6.3% compared to the same month last year.

The sector maintained its position as the top contributor to Türkiye’s total exports, accounting for 16.9% of the country’s overall exports. In the January-March period of this year, automotive exports rose 4.3% to $9 billion 896 million.

The largest product group, the “supply industry,” recorded exports of $1 billion 318 million in March, remaining flat compared to the same month last year. Passenger car exports decreased by 20% to $909 million, while exports of motor vehicles for the transport of goods fell 3.5% to $553 million. Exports of buses, minibuses, and midibuses increased by 10% to $293 million, and tractor unit exports rose 5% to $178 million. Exports under the “other” category amounted to $42 million.

In March, exports to the sector’s largest market, Germany, declined 6% to $525 million, exports to France fell 1% to $456 million, and exports to Italy increased 8% to $306 million.

OİB Board Chairman Baran Çelik stated in his assessment: “Despite the partial contraction we experienced in March, the automotive industry continues to maintain its leadership and strategic importance in the country’s exports. The 10% increase in the buses-minibuses-midibuses segment, offsetting the decline in passenger cars, once again demonstrates the competitiveness and flexibility of our product diversity in the global market. We are progressing decisively toward our sustainable export targets by the end of this year.”
