Truckers' strike in Poland poses threat to pipe supply chain!

Truckers' strike in Poland poses threat to pipe supply chain!

According to data from the National Pipe Manufacturers Association Ukrtruboprom, total pipe production reached 376,100 tons, marking a yearly increase of 5.1% during the January-September period.

As per the source, while some pipe companies, notably Interpipe Niko Tube and Uktrubozol, increased their production on a yearly basis, Trubostal, Interpipe NMTZ, and Oscar experienced a decline in pipe production.

Georgy Polsky, the General Manager of Ukrtrubprom, stated, "Despite the continuous bombing of production facilities in frontline areas, the Ukrainian pipe industry has shown positive dynamics." However, he emphasized that the blockade at the Ukraine-Poland border is a significant blow, especially for steel pipe exporters.

Polsky added, "Given the potential for the strike to spread in Eastern Europe, almost all pipe factories in frontline areas are facing the threat of production stoppage by mid-December."

Ukrainian pipe manufacturers, who reduced their production last year due to the ongoing Russian occupation, faced a decline in exports in October this year. However, exports to Germany, the United States, Romania, and Poland, the main consumers of Ukrainian pipes, continued.

In 2022, Ukrainian pipe manufacturers reduced their exports by 33.6% compared to the previous year, reaching 400,400 tons. This situation underscores the ongoing challenges in the region and the impact of the strike on the industry.
