Tokyo Steel announces opening of steel scrap collection base

To operate this new base, Tokyo Steel will lease a part of the shipyard through an agreement with NEWSCON, a subsidiary of Envipro Holdings. Under this agreement, an annual production of 10,000 tonnes is targeted.

Steel scrap produced in the Kansai region will be collected through this new base and transported by sea to the Okayama Plant. A total of 499 ships will carry out this transport.

This step is considered as part of Tokyo Steel's efforts to utilise its resources more efficiently in steel production and improve environmental sustainability.
