TİM chief Gültepe targets USD 410 billion in exports for 2026

Mustafa Gültepe, chairman of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), outlined Türkiye's export targets, saying the country aims to reach USD 282 billion in goods exports and USD 128 billion in services exports this year, bringing total exports to more than USD 410 billion.

TİM chief Gültepe targets USD 410 billion in exports for 2026

The Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) held its 33rd Ordinary General Assembly and Export Champions Awards Ceremony at the Haliç Congress Center with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, cabinet ministers, senior public officials and representatives of the business community.

During the event, awards were presented to the companies that made the largest contribution to Türkiye's total goods and services exports of USD 396 billion in 2025, as well as to leading companies in the field of e-exports.

'We achieved a historic success with USD 396 billion in exports'

Speaking at the ceremony, TİM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe said Türkiye reached an all-time high in both goods and services exports last year. He noted that the country exceeded the USD 390 billion export target set by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and completed the year with a record USD 396 billion in total exports.

Sharing the targets for 2026, Gültepe said Türkiye aims to export USD 282 billion in goods and USD 128 billion in services, bringing total exports above the USD 400 billion threshold for the first time.

'We want Türkiye to rank among the world's top 10 exporting countries'

Despite wars, geopolitical risks and rising protectionism in the global economy, Gültepe said the current pace of export growth was not sufficient. He stressed that Türkiye's long-term goal is to become one of the world's top 10 exporting nations.

He added that achieving this objective would require strong contributions from all 27 export sectors and sustained double-digit export growth every year.

'Production and exports are the foundation of economic independence'

Gültepe also highlighted the crucial role of production and exports in the national economy, saying sustainable growth can only be achieved through a production-oriented economic model.

He emphasized that exports are not only a source of foreign exchange earnings but also play a strategic role in investment, employment and industrial development. Factories, he said, are among the cornerstones of economic security, while exporters are strategic stakeholders investing in Türkiye's future.

'Steps are needed to strengthen our competitiveness'

Pointing to shifting dynamics in global trade, Gültepe said exporters are facing increasing challenges due to intensifying competition, protectionist measures and geopolitical developments.

He stressed that restoring competitiveness should be a top priority, warning that the loss of price competitiveness leads to market share losses, which in turn put pressure on production and employment.

Gültepe also underlined the importance of exporters having access to affordable, long-term financing, adding that despite the challenges, the export community remains optimistic and determined.
