Tata Steel plans to build a new plant in India

The largest steel producer in India, Tata Steel, intends to construct a scrap-fired steel mill in Ludhiana, in northern India. Due to its proximity to an industrial area and an auto hub where the business can easily obtain scrap, the location was chosen.

With a 750,000-ton annual production capacity, the steel mill will produce long products. The plant was anticipated to be operational in two years.
In order to increase its domestic production capacity to 36 million tons annually, Tata Steel also intends to build processing facilities in South India that use electric arc furnaces.
