Tata Steel Nederland orders pellet test installation from Primetals

Tata Steel Nederland orders advanced pellet test installation from Primetals Technologies.

Tata Steel Nederland orders pellet test installation from Primetals

This pellet test installation, ordered by Tata Steel Nederland from Primetals Technologies, will be used to test the transformation of raw materials into pellets, which are essential for the production of liquid iron. The new facility will allow for faster, more efficient, and environmentally friendly testing of raw materials, enabling the company to achieve an optimal raw material mix.

Vincent Ritman, R&D Director at Tata Steel, highlighted this investment as one of the largest in the company's R&D history. “With Primetals Technologies, we are forging a reliable and experienced partnership that will help us to make the future connection of the Pellet Plant to DRP possible," said Ritman.

The new pellet test installation is expected to enable Tata Steel to achieve its “green” iron production targets and test the use of hydrogen in the future.
