Tata Steel was ranked among the top 10 steel companies in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2021. The company maintained its position in the DJSI Emerging Markets (EM) Index for the 10th consecutive year. Tata Steel is also one of the top 15 companies in India to enter the EM Index, which currently consists of 109 companies.
For the 2021 Corporate Sustainability Assessment, 5,300 companies were included and invited to participate. A record 1,843 companies participated in the evaluation this year. Participating companies represent 45% of the global market capitalization according to the S&P Global BMI (Broad Market Index) of 32% in 2020.
In terms of sustainability, Tata Steel received the highest scores in the following categories, such as code of conduct, risk and crisis management, environmental reporting, operational eco-efficiency, corporate, civic and philanthropy, and social reporting.

Tata Steel has been participating in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) since 2012 and has been a member of the DJSI Emerging Markets Index for the 10th consecutive year. Earlier this year, the Company's Jamshedpur Steelworks was recognized as the World Economic Forum's 4th Advanced Industrial Revolution Lighthouse. As part of its transformation journey towards sustainable operations, the Company has launched several conscious efforts, including the deployment of electric vehicles for steel transportation at its Jamshedpur and Sahibabad facilities, commissioning of the first steel recycling facility in Rohtak, Haryana, India, and establishment of the first Carbon. . Tata Steel is also the first steel company to join the Sea Cargo Charter.
The DJSI Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) is the annual assessment of companies' sustainability practices since 1999. Each year, more than 7,000 companies worldwide are evaluated on the Economic/Management, Environmental and Social dimensions, focusing on both industry-specific and criteria.
