Tata Steel has successfully upgraded its wire rod line at its Gamharia plant in Jamshedpur, significantly improving both operational efficiency and product quality. The modernization project was carried out in collaboration with Danieli, a global leader in industrial equipment and automation.
The upgrade included upgrading the line’s cutting equipment and installing an automation system that makes production processes more reliable. These improvements focused on resolving cutting accuracy issues, alignment problems, and technical faults that had led to production losses and equipment damage in the past.
The project, which was initially planned to be completed during a 20-day shutdown, was completed ahead of schedule thanks to the efforts of Danieli’s experts. The optimized procedures implemented minimized disruptions and accelerated the line’s restart.
After the modernization, Tata Steel achieved a more stable production process by eliminating operational inefficiencies and increasing the availability of the production line. The improvements made contributed to the increase in product quality and prevented equipment failures.
