Slovakia marked 2023 with a 15.4% increase in crude steel production

Slovakia ranked 34th in the world chart for crude steel production and 10th among EU countries with an increase of 15.4%

Slovakia marked 2023 with a 15.4% increase in crude steel production

Slovakia produced 4.5 metric tonnes of crude steel in 2023, an increase of 15.4%, ranking 34th in the world chart for crude steel production and 10th among EU countries.

According to the World Steel Association (WorldSteel) data, the Netherlands ranked 9th with 4.7 metric tonnes of crude steel production, ahead of Slovakia, which is one of the few countries among EU countries with an increase in crude steel production in 2023, and ranked 33rd worldwide. Sweden, on the other hand, produced 4.3 metric tonnes of crude steel, ranking 36th in the world ranking below Slovakia and 11th in the EU countries.

In 2020, Slovakia produced 3.4 metric tonnes, ranking 38th worldwide, and in 2021, Slovakia increased its steel production to 4.9 metric tonnes, ranking 34th. In the last four years, it was revealed that Slovakia, which maintained its place in the ranking, experienced an increase of 15.4% in 2023.

Slovakia is expected to maintain this upward trend in crude steel production in 2024.
