Ship traffic at Turkish ports has reached its highest level in the last 7 years

The number of ships docking at Turkish ports in 2025 reached 62,656, marking the highest level in the last seven years.

According to data compiled from the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs, the increase in the number of ships visiting Turkish ports continues.

In 2020 and 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, 48,821 and 51,199 ships visited the ports, respectively. In 2022, this number reached 58,052.

The number of ships visiting the ports surpassed 60,000 in 2023, reaching 60,195. In 2024, the number of ships visiting the ports increased to 60,594.

Last year, the number of ships visiting the ports rose to 62,656, reaching the highest level in the last seven years.

In 2025, 62,656 ships docked at Turkish ports, with 21,907 of them being Turkish-flagged and 40,749 being foreign-flagged.

The most vehicles were transported on European routes by ships. The number of vehicles transported by Ro-Ro ships on international routes also increased last year.

The number of vehicles transported by these ships was 706,387 in 2024, while it rose to 724,726 in 2025.

Last year, 359,923 vehicles arrived in Turkey via international

Ro-Ro routes, while 364,803 vehicles departed from the country.

The majority of the vehicles using international routes were transported from European ports. Out of the more than 724,000 vehicles transported by Ro-Ro ships in 2025, 522,717 were transferred through European routes such as Trieste, Bari, Valencia, and Marseille.
