Turkey's imported scrap prices fell
Turkish steelmakers have suspended their import scrap purchases for a while due to falling rebar prices and unfavorable conditions in the long steel market. With the purchases made at the beginning of the week with 80:20 scrap bookings at $415 level, import scrap prices decreased. This drop represents a $15 loss from last week.
Bulgarian origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) scrap came in at $372/t cfr Turkey earlier this week.
Due to weak demand, rebar prices in the Turkish domestic market weakened further on Tuesday. While most manufacturers try to keep their official prices at $690-$700 ex-works, firm offers are priced as high as $670.
Turkish shipbreaking scrap prices have not changed since the beginning of April. Average dismantling scrap prices remain at $433.
