The Russian steel market remained under pressure over the past week, with weak domestic consumption, restricted export opportunities and increasingly difficult Black Sea logistics limiting the ability of mills to push prices higher. At the same time, export quotations for flat steel and billet have remained relatively firm, suggesting that producers are trying to protect margins rather than compete aggressively for additional overseas volumes.
