It was announced that Trudi Charles, who currently serves as Executive Vice President and Senior Vice President for Procurement, Trading and Shipping Legal at BP plc, will assume her new role on August 1, 2026.
Charles has held various senior legal positions at BP for more than 20 years. Prior to that, she spent nearly eight years at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer in London and Hong Kong. She is admitted to the bars of England and Wales, Hong Kong, and Queensland.
Simon Trott, CEO of Rio Tinto, said in a statement regarding the appointment that Charles’s strong legal expertise and commercial experience would make a valuable contribution to the company’s leadership team.
