The Communiqué on Import Safeguard Measures prepared by the Ministry entered into force after being published in the Official Gazette.
Accordingly, in the preliminary examination carried out based on the application made by domestic producers, it was determined that the imports of wire rod have recently increased in relative and absolute terms and that there has been deterioration in some economic indicators of the domestic production branch.
The Import Safeguard Measures Evaluation Board decided to open a safeguard investigation in order to examine whether this increase in imports poses a serious damage or threat to the domestic production line.
Within the scope of the investigation, the effects of imports of wire rod, which is used in the manufacture of various products from bolts to nuts, wire, nails and electrodes, will be investigated.
The investigation conducted by the General Directorate of Imports will be completed within 9 months. If necessary, the period can be extended by 6 months.
