Nucor Corporation has been awarded the General Motors (GM) Supplier of the Year award for the third consecutive year. The company was honored at a virtual award ceremony held yesterday. Additionally, Nucor is the only electric arc furnace steel producer selected for this year's award, which marks the 29th year of the awards.
The winners of the award are selected by a global GM executive team. The selection is based on the suppliers' performance in four key areas: Purchasing, Global Purchasing and Manufacturing Services, Customer Care and Aftersales Logistics.
Commenting on the significant achievement, Nucor Corporation's President and CEO, Leon Topalian, thanked GM for the recognition. The partnership with GM has presented numerous challenges for both industries, especially during the pandemic. Nucor said it looked forward to further strengthening this partnership. Topalian also congratulated all Nucor teammates for their dedication and hard work that helped the company achieve this prestigious honor.
Meanwhile, Shilpan Amin, GM Vice President of Global Purchasing and Supply Chain, said he was pleased with the successes of the company's partnership with suppliers in the past year and was extremely excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
