Southern European long steel markets remained stable during the week to Wednesday, July 19, as mills prepared for seasonal summer closures.
Production cuts will begin in Italy and Spain when mills close for their six-week holidays. However, prices are expected to remain stable for the duration of the summer.
Steel reinforcing bar prices in Italy were €670-685 per tonne, while in Spain, prices were €640-650 per tonne.
Southern European wire rod prices were €590-610 per tonne, with slight increases in wire rod prices in Italy due to improved demand.
