Kumba Iron Ore has signed a mining contract for ZAR 1.6 billion with a community joint venture for iron ore mining at the Kolomela mine in the Northern Cape.
The joint venture, comprising four community-owned companies, will begin mining activity in the first quarter of 2022, with an initial production goal of 5-10 million tons of iron ore in the first year.
