According to the report prepared based on the GRI Standards, Kocaer Çelik increased its production by 26% and total sales volume by 17.6% in 2025 compared with the previous year. The company’s revenue reached TRY 24.1 billion, while exports were made to more than 140 countries.
Rooftop solar power accounted for 24.42% of electricity consumption
The total installed capacity of rooftop solar power plants (SPPs) at Kocaer Çelik’s production facilities stands at 9.2 MW.
In 2025, the company’s total electricity consumption amounted to 42.83 million kWh, of which 10.46 million kWh was supplied by rooftop SPPs. As a result, renewable electricity accounted for 24.42% of total electricity consumption. The report stated that approximately 33% of the electricity needs of the production facilities were met from renewable sources.
As part of its energy transition efforts, the first phase of Kocaer Çelik’s 24 MW geothermal power plant investment in Kuyucak, Aydın, is also ongoing. The company aims to increase its renewable energy capacity through solar and geothermal investments.
Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions increased
Under the targets set by Kocaer Çelik as part of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the company aims to reduce its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 42% by 2030 compared with the 2022 baseline year, while targeting a 51.6% reduction in Scope 3 emissions intensity per tonne of steel.
Its 2050 targets include a 90% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and a 97% reduction in Scope 3 emissions.
According to 2025 data, the group’s consolidated Scope 1 emissions increased by 26.8% from the 2022 baseline to 57,703.72 tonnes of CO₂e, while Scope 2 emissions rose by 30.55% to 18,653.99 tonnes of CO₂e.
Scope 3 emissions also increased by 54.8% over the same period, reaching 1.42 million tonnes of CO₂e. The company attributed the increase in emissions to the expansion of production capacity, longer equipment operating hours and the expansion of its logistics network.
Scope 3 emissions intensity increased from 1.7245 tonnes of CO₂e per tonne of steel in 2022 to 1.8763 tonnes in 2025. The company plans to reduce emissions in this area through green raw material sourcing, a high scrap utilization rate and low-carbon logistics practices.
Water consumption per tonne of product decreased by 14%
Kocaer Çelik’s water intensity per tonne of product improved by 14%, declining from 0.47 m³/tonne to 0.41 m³/tonne in 2025.
Groundwater extraction decreased by 5% compared with 2023, while the volume of wastewater discharged fell by 14%. The company also completed a Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) wastewater treatment plant at its A2 facility in 2025.
More than 22,000 tonnes of materials incorporated into the circular economy
The use of scrap and recycled raw materials was prominent in Kocaer Çelik’s circular economy initiatives. In 2025, more than 22,444 tonnes of material were incorporated into circular economy processes, approximately 22,259 tonnes of which consisted of scrap.
The recoverability rate of the company’s structural steel, mining profiles and galvanized steel products reached 95.7%. The recycled billet utilization rate reached 99%, while the use of scrap billets in raw material sourcing reached 93%.
A total of 39,394 tonnes of waste was generated in 2025, including 2,726 tonnes of hazardous waste and 36,668 tonnes of non-hazardous waste. The amount of hazardous waste recovered increased by 41.26% compared with 2023, reaching 2,595 tonnes.
CDP scores improved
Kocaer Çelik also recorded improvements in its CDP assessments. The company’s Water Security score increased from C to A- (Leadership), while its Climate Change score improved from C to B (Management).
The company continues to develop its carbon calculation and reporting infrastructure under the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
Accident frequency rate decreased
The number of accidents resulting in lost working days declined from 305 in 2024 to 236 in 2025, while accidents without lost working days fell from 166 to 134. The accident frequency rate also decreased from 198.9 to 181.2.
According to the report, no fatal occupational accidents or occupational diseases were recorded in 2025.
