Qarmet will expand pipe production in Aktau

The Kazakh metallurgical company Qarmet, which was sold to the state by the ArcelorMittal group last December and then came under the control of the Qazaqstan Steel Group, announced its intention to increase the capacity of the pipe plant in Aktau.

Currently, the enterprise can produce up to 60 thousand tons of welded pipes per year, mainly for the needs of the oil and gas industry. The project provides for the expansion of production volumes to 100 thousand tons per year, as well as the laying of railway tracks along the territory of the plant.

The Qazaqstan Steel Group company has committed to invest $ 3 billion in the development of the enterprise, of which about $ 1.3 billion during 2024. It is expected that the volume of steel production at Qarmet will exceed the previous year by 13% and reach 3.3 million tons
