Japan's cold rolled sheet and strip shipments increased

According to JISF (Japan Iron and Steel Federation) data, shipments of cold rolled sheet and strip to Japan increased by 18 percent in May 2023. 48 percent of this shipment was sent to the domestic market and 52 percent to the export market.

Also in May, Japan's cold rolled sheet and strip stocks increased by 4 percent month on month, but decreased by 16 percent year on year to 716,100 mt. 73 percent of these stocks were held by steel manufacturers and 27 percent by steel traders.

In addition, CR sheet and strip production totaled 421,230 mt in May 2023, up 30 percent month on month and down 7 percent year on year.
