According to analysts' forecasts, Japan's January-March 2023 crude steel production is expected to decrease by 4.0% year-on-year.

Japan's 2023 crude steel production expected to decrease

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) forecasts that Japan's crude steel production in the January-March quarter of 2023 will decrease by 4.0 percent year on year to 22.10 million tons.

Demand for steel products, including export products, is expected to decrease by 4.3 percent year on year to 19.98 million tons in the January-March period, according to a statement made by the ministry based on an industry survey.

Exports are expected to decrease by 7.4% to 6.19 million tons,
