Iran: US attacks on southern coasts violate agreement

In a written statement by the ministry, it was stated that the attacks carried out on the evening of Friday, June 27, 2026 targeted Iran’s coastal surveillance facilities.

The statement argued that these attacks clearly violate both Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter and Article 1 of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Termination of Imposed War, signed on June 18, 2026.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the country has the right to defend its national sovereignty and interests, and said that retaliatory strikes against US assets are considered legitimate self-defense.
