Norwegian aluminum producer Norsk Hydro has made an investment plan to expand its remelted scrap ingot production project at its facility in Wrexham, England, to increase the recycling capacity of post-consumer aluminum scrap to 103,000 tons per year, thereby providing lower cost aluminum scrap.
This project is estimated to help Hydro to meet its goal of doubling post-consumer scrap recycling by 2025.
The project is expected to require an investment of GBP 25-35 million.
The production of remelted scrap ingots at the Wrexham plant will strengthen Hydro's position in the UK market and the facility's scope to process and recycle post-consumer aluminum scrap will also be expanded.
