HRC prices, especially in Germany and Italy, started the week of 6 May with a significant acceleration. Italian HRC prices, which stood at EUR 635 in April, decreased by EUR 10 in late April and the first week of May, trading at EUR 625. In the week that has just started, prices gained momentum by EUR 10 and rose back to EUR 635. In line with the data, CFR Antwerp HRC [EN 10025 (S235JR)] 2-3 mm prices gained a significant momentum of EUR 35 to trade at EUR 605.
According to SteelRadar, producers were expecting prices to increase in the coming days. As a matter of fact, prices increased at the rates expected by the producers. In Spain, another country in Southern Europe, HRC prices declined on the contrary. Having traded at 660 EUR as of 22 April, Spanish HRC prices started the week of 6 May with a decline of 5 EUR to 655 EUR. Market prices, which have been stable for a long time, followed a fluctuating course in the new week.
Southern European CRC prices have been trading stable at EUR 735 in Italy since the beginning of April, while the situation is not different in Spain. Spanish CRC prices were reported to have traded at EUR 805, down by EUR 8 in the week of 29 April, while they remained stable in the week that has just started.
In Germany, which is located in Northern Europe, HRC prices gained momentum by EUR 10 in the week to 6 May, after a EUR 10 decrease last week, and prices were calculated at EUR 635. As noted by SteelRadar, HRC prices in Northern Europe started to increase gradually. However, CRC prices remained stable, trading at EUR 735.
