How is the rebar market in Europe?

Rebar markets in Europe continue to be negatively affected by the slowdown in the steel market and the increase in raw material prices.

According to SteelRadar data, rebar prices in Poland, which dropped to €635 on March 18, remained stable at €635 in the week to March 25. Rebar prices in Poland, which traded at €645 during February, are expected to rise in the coming days with the increasing number of housing units and a higher demand for rebar, sources expect.

The rebar market in Germany, which is located in Northern Europe and neighboring Poland, started the new week with a decrease. According to SteelRadar data, rebar started the week of March 25 with a €5 drop, while its current price in Germany is estimated at €640. Sources indicated that no new noteworthy deals have been announced across Europe and reduced consumption has led to a negative outlook for the Northern European rebar market, while buyers are waiting for the post-Easter holiday period for better volumes.

As for the rebar market in Southern Europe, Spain was reported to be stagnant while Italy was witnessing a decrease. Rebar prices in Spain have been hovering around €605 for a long time, while Italy, which closed the week of March 18 at €590, started the new week with a €25 decrease, with current rebar prices recorded at €575.

Sources told SteelRadar that there has been a negative outlook in Europe for some time due to lower rebar consumption, but they expect prices to improve in the coming quarter as demand for the long product increases.
