Benelux scrap export prices were higher but local prices were lower. Around mid-week, 25,000 tons of HMS 1&2 (80:20) and 15,000 tons of bonus product were traded at an average price of $424/t CFR, a Belgian source reported. Experts estimate the price for HMS 1&2 (80:20) in this transaction to be in the range of $415-416/t CFR. Moreover, another sale for HMS 1&2 (80:20) at $415-416/t was also heard from the Netherlands.
Assessments for HMS 1&2 (75:25) and HMS 1&2 (80:20) were raised by $12/t weekly and $3/t daily to $381/t FOB Rotterdam and $386/t FOB Rotterdam, respectively. In Asia, there were no scrap transactions due to low demand, while in Europe, offer prices increased during the week. European HMS 1&2 (80:20) was reportedly offered to India at $380-400/t CFR during the week.
Information revealed that HMS 1&2 (80:20) scrap prices exported from Benelux have increased by $12/t CFR since last Friday to $415/t CFR Türkiye. Scrap importers are expecting trade to pick up after the holiday week amid product needs for February shipments, sources pointed out.
