According to data from the World Steel Association (WorldSteel), Finland produced 3.5 million tonnes of crude steel in 2022, while it was recorded that it reached 3.8 million tonnes in 2023 with an increase in production. With 4.3 million tonnes of crude steel, it was reported to have produced the most in 2021, while it has consistently maintained its 38th place in the world ranking for the last three years.
Finland, a major steel producer, also exports steel to Türkiye. Miilux Oy of Finland continues to operate with the aim of meeting most of Türkiye's armor steel needs, sources indicated. In 2019, Miilux Oy continues its activities today, with a production of 38 thousand tons obtained by processing qualified flat steel produced by Turkish companies Erdemir and İsdemir.
The 2023 world crude steel production chart reveals that while most EU countries experienced a decrease in crude steel production, Slovakia and Finland were among the countries that experienced an increase in crude steel production. The Czech Republic, which experienced a 21.1% decrease in 2023 compared to 2022, ranked below Finland, while Sweden ranked above Finland with a production of 3.8 metric tons.
