EU’s ‘Made in EU’ draft’s emphasis on Turkey pleased exporters.

Exporters welcomed the EU’s ‘Made in EU’ draft taking Turkey into account under the Customs Union framework.

EU’s ‘Made in EU’ draft’s emphasis on Turkey pleased exporters.

Ege Exporters’ Associations Coordinator President Jak Eskinazi stated that they are pleased to see the constructive dialogue carried out recently producing tangible results.

Eskinazi said, “We are pleased that the intensive and constructive diplomatic traffic conducted with the European Union recently in the fields of economy and trade has produced positive results. In the draft published within the framework of the Industrial Acceleration Act and the ‘Made in EU’ policy, for which the EU continues its preparations, the consideration of the existing Customs Union with Turkey within the scope of this policy is an important indication of the strong economic integration and mutual trust between the two sides.”

Emphasizing that the consultations carried out between Turkey and the European Union are important for the sustainability of trade relations, Eskinazi stated that Turkey’s role within European value chains has once again been confirmed during this process.

“Turkey has long had a production structure integrated with the European industrial ecosystem. From automotive to machinery, and from textiles to chemicals, we are an important and reliable part of European value chains in many sectors. In this context, we believe that the steps taken will contribute to further strengthening economic cooperation between Turkey and the European Union.”

President Eskinazi also noted that Turkey’s active trade diplomacy played a significant role in this positive development and drew special attention to the contribution of the Ministry of Trade to the process.

“In the successful management of this process, the determined and effective trade diplomacy of our Ministry of Trade has played a major role. We believe that the constructive and solution-oriented approach demonstrated by our Minister of Trade, Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat, in contacts with the European Union has made an important contribution to achieving this positive outcome. I would like to express my gratitude to our Ministry of Trade and to our Minister and his team for strongly defending the interests of the Turkish business community and our exporters on international platforms.”

Eskinazi also emphasized that economic cooperation between Turkey and the European Union should deepen further in the coming period and concluded his remarks as follows:

“The strengthening of the economic partnership between Turkey and the European Union is of great importance for increasing the competitiveness of value chains and accelerating green and digital transformation processes. In this process, we believe that through strong cooperation between the public and private sectors, we will elevate our economic integration with Europe to a more advanced level.”
