EU quota utilization remains weak

According to SteelRadar's weekly EU Quota assessment, the trend of weak utilization continues in the October 1 - December 31 refill figures.

EU quota utilization remains weak

While some countries have fully utilized their quotas, others are struggling to increase their utilization rates. China fully used its quota of 127,995 tons for 4B metallic coated sheet, India used 31,678 tons for stainless bar and light sections and China used 6,987 tons for sheet piling.

Countries that did not use their quotas last week continued to do so this week. The United Kingdom has not yet used its initial quota of 896 tons of sheet piling, South Korea has not yet used its 3A electrical sheet quota of 253 tons and Iran has not yet used its 3A electrical sheet quota of 165 tons.

However, some countries that did not use their quotas last week are slowly starting to use their quotas this week. South Korea has used 25 tons of its 1,155 tons of seamless tube quota, Japan has used 151 tons of its 1,594 tons of stainless wire rod quota, and the United Kingdom has used 1 ton of its 3,816 tons of stainless wire rod quota.

Türkiye used 96.27% of its allocated quotas for railway materials and 80.10% for hollow sections. Türkiye's lowest utilization rate is 5% for non alloy wire. The utilization of EU steel quotas continues to fluctuate depending on the dynamics in the global steel industry.
